Aravsamrat Hada and Swastika Bista became champions in the 11th Citizens Bank Tennis Tournament on Saturday. Aarab won the men's singles and Swastika won the women's singles. Both are new champions in the tournament.
Arav defeated Nishan Shrestha in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 at Rakhep Court in Tripureshwar. Arav's third senior singles title overall. Earlier, he won Ganeshman Singh Tennis and Machhapuchhre Tennis titles. Nihaljung Thapa and Rajveer Pradhan came third. Pradeep Khadka, the title winner of the eighth and tenth editions, stopped in the quarterfinals. Rajveer won over Pradeep.
In the women's final, Swastika defeated Abhilasha Bista, the winner of the ninth and tenth editions, in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. This is Swastika's first senior title in her 4-year tennis career. Aisa Dolkar Gurung and Jenny Khadka came third. The top three finishers in both male/female categories got 50,000, 25,000 and 10,000 respectively.
Arav and Abhilasha in mixed doubles, veteran Jitendra Periyar in men's singles over 35 years, Jitendra and Elam Dixit in men's doubles over 35 years, Kamal Bahadur Bhandari in men's singles over 45 years and Kamal and Sumit Mainali in men's doubles over 45 years were successful in competing in 11 events.
In the tournament organized by Kathmandu District Tennis Association under the main sponsorship of Citizens Bank, Chandra Shahi in men's singles over 55 years, Chandra and Degendra Shrestha in men's doubles over 55 years, Dhruv Bahadur Gurung in men's singles over 65 years and Dhir Gurung and Manoj Rana in men's doubles over 65 years were successful. The winner was awarded by Manohardas Mul, coordinator of Nepal Tennis Association, Citizens Bank's Prakash Mainali, Vijayadhwaj Karki and Digvijay Bista, Rakhep members Kamal Bahadur Bhattarai, Bhan Bahadur Chand and others gave awards.
