The Martyr Memorial Local Level National Women's Gold Cup Football Tournament is starting from Friday in Hetaunda. Organizers said that all the preparations for the tournament to be held at Gauritar Stadium located in Hetaunda-6 have been completed.
In the opening of the tournament, Anfa Makwanpur will play the first match against neighboring district Chitwan. The Makwanpur Football Association, which has been organizing the Men's Gold Cup for the sixth edition, has organized the Women's Gold Cup this year. In the
competition, two departmental teams, one A division team and eight teams from five districts are participating. Departmental teams of Nepal Police and Armed Police along with Sankata Club and Makwanpur, Chitwan, Sarlahi, Rautahat and Bara districts will participate in the competition. Earlier it was said that Tribhuvan Army would participate, but after withdrawing its name at the last moment, Sankata will participate in the match.
Women's players have been presenting excellent results in recent times, Tikaram Lama, President of the District Football Association, informed that a women's football tournament was organized for the first time in Makwanpur to encourage them. According to the organizers, the winner of the competition will get a trophy and certificate with 5 lakhs and the runner-up will get 3 lakhs in cash, while the best player will get a scooter. A trophy with cash has also been arranged for the best in the
category. The man of the match of each match will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Organizers estimate that about 61 lakh rupees will be spent for conducting the competition.
The main sponsor of the Women's Gold Cup is Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City and sponsors include Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, Bhimfedi Rural Municipality, Kailash Rural Municipality and other local associations. According to the organizer, entry is free on the opening day.
Earlier, the competition which was supposed to be held on 18th of Baisakh, continued in Nuwakot The first Bagmati Chief Minister's Cup has been moved by one day due to the women's football tournament.
