Shahid Smriti Local Level National Women's Gold Cup Football Competition scheduled to be held in Hetaunda from 18th Baisakh will be delayed by one day. Due to the first Bagmati Province Chief Minister's Cup women's football tournament held in Nuwakot, the Gold Cup to be held here has been postponed by a day, according to the organizers.
The organizers have informed through a press conference that the preparations for the Gold Cup are almost complete. Makwanpur Football Association, which has been organizing the Men's Gold Cup since the sixth edition, is going to organize the Women's Gold Cup this year.
8 teams from three departmental teams and 5 districts will participate in the competition to be held at Gauritar Stadium located in Hetaunda-6. Secretary of the association Chhabi Subedi informed that departmental teams from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force along with Makwanpur, Chitwan, Sarlahi, Rautahat and Bara districts will participate in the competition. Tikaram Lama, President of the District Football Association, informed that women's football tournament was organized for the first time in Makwanpur to encourage women players as the women players have been presenting excellent results lately. According to the organizers, the winner of the
competition will get a trophy and certificate along with 5 lakh and the runner-up will get 3 lakh cash, while the best player will get a scooter. Organizers estimate that the tournament will cost around Rs 61 lakh. The sponsor of the competition is Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City and the sponsors are Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, Bhimfedi Rural Municipality, Kailash Rural Municipality and other local associations. Competition coordinator Pratap Bisht informed that tickets should be bought on days other than the day of the opening match.
The match schedule will be announced in a few days, but the opening match is said to be between Chitwan and Makwanpur. All Nepal Football Association ANFA central member and ANFA Women's Association President Pema Lama expressed her belief that such Gold Cup will help in the production of female players.
