Chinnamasta Rupani Madhesh Riders, inspired by Shankar Rana's 65 runs, defeated Kosi Duhabi Capital by 56 runs in the opening match of the third edition of Madhesh Premier League cricket on Tuesday.

Kosi Duhabi invited Chinnamasta to bat after winning the toss at Pavi Mavi ground in Rajviraj. Chinnamasta scored 154 runs after losing 6 wickets while playing a full over in a match shortened to 18 overs. Santhosh Karki contributed 31 runs and Rohan Bick 22 runs for Shankar. Koshi Duhabi's Krishna Karki and Akash Tripathi took 3 wickets each. In the

reply, Kosi scored just 98 runs in 13.4 overs, losing all wickets. Ishan Pandey scored 37, Sonu Ansari 29 and Dipesh Kandel scored 16 runs. Chinnamasta's Narayan Joshi, Dinesh Adhikari took 3 wickets each, Abhishek Karki took 2 wickets and Dewan Pun took 1 wicket. Player of the match was Shankar Rana. The

tournament was inaugurated by Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh with batting and Madhesh Premier League President Sanjiv Narayan Yadav with bowling. On Wednesday Saptari Balan Bihul Super King and Chinnamasta and the second match will be played between Koshi Duhabi and Kathmandu Royals.

Nepal's national and international players are competing in the competition with a total of 6 teams participating.

Dipendrasingh Airi, Kushal Bhurtel, Arif Sheikh, Asif Sheikh, Gulsan Jha, Lalit Rajwanshi, Wasir Ahmed, Rashid Khan Vivek Yadav, Nandan Yadav, Arjun Saud and Amit Shrestha and other players will enter the field from different teams.

The winner will get Rs 9 lakh 1 thousand and the runner-up will get Rs 4 lakh 1 thousand.  Chairman Yadav said that 1 lakh 51 thousand awards have been arranged for

man of the series. The competition will cost around 1 crore 17 lakh 500 rupees. The final will be held on May 11.
