Former winner Biratnagar Metropolitan City has won the title of the second edition of the Mayor's Cup inter-municipal level cricket tournament. Biratnagar won the title by defeating Itahari sub-metropolitan city by 4 wickets in the final match held on Sunday at the Janata Cricket Stadium located in Itahari-9.

Biratnagar achieved the winning target of 182 runs presented by Ithari by losing 6 wickets in 19.5 overs. Minas Thapa played the best innings of 87 runs for Biratnagar. He faced 45 balls and hit 6 sixes and 8 fours. Atal Shah scored 26 runs while captain Dipesh Kandel scored 20 runs not out. 

Earlier, Itahari, who won the toss and batted first, scored 181 runs, losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs against Rites Rai's 61 runs. While Ankit Subedi scored 25 runs for Itahari, Gaurav Katuwal and Suman Gahatraj added 19 runs. Dipesh Kandel of Biratnagar was declared the best player of the

competition and received a cash prize of 7,000. Anil Lamichhane of Mai Municipality of Ilam and Prem Kamat of Katahari Rural Municipality of Baler Morang were the best batters. They got Rs 5,000 each. Biratnagar, the winner of the title, received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Itahari, the runner-up, received a cash prize of Rs 50,000. 18 municipalities of Koshi province participated in the competition organized by Itahari sub-metropolitan city.
