Kiran Tamang and Ruveena Tamang have won the 5 km category of Panchkanya district level cross country race of the second edition.
In the competition organized by Panchkanya Janakalyan Yuva Samaj in Panchkanya Rural Municipality of Nuwakot on Saturday, Kiran won the title in the 5 km men's category by completing the race in 22 minutes and 18 seconds. Manhari Thapa was second with 22 minutes 49 seconds and Dipesh Tamang was third with 22 minutes 51 seconds.
In the same distance, Rubina won the women's race in 28 minutes. Supreeta Thapa was second with 29 minutes 21 seconds and Vipana Tamang was third with 31 minutes 46 seconds. The winner of 5 km on both sides got 11,000, the second runner-up 7,000 and the third runner-up 4,000 rupees.
Prakash Tamang won the men's open 10 km . He completed the race in 41 minutes and 33 seconds . Jairam Thapa was second with 44 minutes 04 seconds and Harichandra Tamang was third with 45 minutes 19 seconds. The winner got 22,000, the second runner-up got 16,000 and the third runner-up got 10,000. A complaint has been filed against the winner of this event, Prakash. The organizer Yuva Samaj said that after other players protested that Prakash played under a different name, he walked away without taking the award.
Savitri Thapa has won the women's 10 km. She completed the race in 1 hour and 5 seconds. Melina Paudel was second in 1 hour and 10 minutes and Sushila Tamang was third in 1 hour and 13 minutes. The winners of both sides of the 10 km race received 22,000, the second runner-up 16,000 and the third runner-up 10,000.
The chief guest MP and former minister Maoist center central member Hit Bahadur Tamang, Panchkanya rural municipality president Tej Bahadur Tamang, vice president Vimala KC Pathak, ward president of Panchkanya rural municipality ward number 3 Rambabu Parajuli and others gave prizes to the winning players.
The race started from Lakuribhanjang office of Panchkanya Rural Municipality and reached Ghyangswara Martyr Memorial Tourist Park and ended at Ghalebhanjang via the same route. More than five dozen participated in the race.
Tikaram Tamang, president of the society, said that a race competition was held to promote the Khyangswara Martyr Memorial Park built in Panchkanya-4. The competition was supported by people from different countries including Panchkanya Rural Municipality. In the
program, famous artists gave a musical performance .
Elisa Tamang of Panchkanya-3 and Sudeep Rai of Likhu rural municipality-4 became champions in the Panchkanya cross-country race held on February 5 last year. Alisa won the women's 11 km distance in 1 hour 13 minutes 41 seconds and Sudeep won the men's race in 47 minutes 14 seconds.
Savina Rai and Kiran Tamang of Panchkanya-1 won the title in the 5 km race for Panchkanya municipal level students.
