Nepal's International Master Raju Chhetri has been nominated as the vice-chairman of the International Committee of the World Taekwondo Headquarters (Kukiwan) on Friday. Chhetri, who has been active as an international Taekwondo referee, is the first Nepali to reach there.

Former World Taekwondo Secretary General Manik Choi and Kwan Parki, Chairman of the Technical Committee of Kukiwon, sworn in Chhetri as the Vice President of the International Committee of Kukiwon in South Korea. Chhetri has been playing the role of referee in US Open Championship continuously since 2023 . He also played the role of referee in the Kimunyong Cup, the world ranking Jee-Wan tournament in South Korea, the Japan Open in Osaka, Japan and the Seongnam Open tournament in Korea in 2023. Taekwondo has been the national sport of Korea since Kukiwon was established in 1972. There are 213 countries affiliated to Kukiwan. Chhetri won the gold medal as a player in the world ranking G-2 Korean Open international tournament in 2008. Due to his contribution in the field of sports, Chettri was honored by the Korean government in 2013 by providing him with honorary citizenship.
