Nepal is going to play its first match against UAE in the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) announced the schedule of the five-nation tournament starting next week.
Nepal, UAE along with Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman will compete in the tournament to be held at Mulpani in Kathmandu from April 13 to 19. All the matches of the tournament will be held at the upper and lower cricket grounds of Moolpani. The winner of the round-robin tournament will qualify for the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2026 in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
After playing against UAE on April 13, Nepal will play Oman on April 14, Hong Kong on April 16 and Afghanistan on April 19. The team with the most points in the round robin league will be the winner and advance to the U-19 World Cup.
Nepal is about to host the U-19 World Cup qualifiers for the third time. Earlier, in 2001 and 2005, Nepal reached the U-19 World Cup by winning the ACC U-19 Cup which was held twice at home. Nepal has played U-19 World Cup 8 times.
