Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 80 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket on Thursday.

Kolkata, who won the title by defeating Hyderabad in the finals last year, got their second victory in 4 games and moved up to fifth place. Hyderabad have suffered their third defeat in 4 matches and have dropped to the bottom.

Despite losing the opener Quinton de Kock for 1 and Sunil Narine for 7 runs, Kolkata lost the toss and came to bat and scored 200 runs by losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. With the help of the Indian batsmen, Kolkata managed to give a challenging score.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 38 off 27 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes, Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 50 off 32 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, Venkatesh Iyer scored 60 runs off 29 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 32 runs by hitting 4 fours and 1 six off 17 balls. Kolkata replaced Spencer Johnson with Moeen Ali. But he didn't even get a chance to bowl if he didn't get into the top 8 batting line.
