Kolkata dominated over Rajasthan

With the help of Quinton de Kock's brilliant 97 runs, defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders registered their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. In an impressive performance, Kolkata defeated Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets. Both the teams were defeated in their first match and went into this competition.

In this case, Rajasthan suffered its second consecutive loss and remained at the bottom of the points table. This will increase the pressure on the team.

This win is a relief for Kolkata. With a target of 152 runs for victory, Kolkata scored 153 runs after losing two wickets in 17.3 overs. South African batsman de Kock remained unbeaten after facing 61 balls hitting 8 fours and 6 sixes. He shared an unbeaten 83-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi for the third wicket. Young player Raghuvanshi contributed 22 runs.

He hit two fours. Moeen Ali, who came in the role of opener, could contribute only 5 runs in 12 balls. He was run out. For the first wicket, he supported de Kock for a partnership of 42 runs. After regular opener Sunil Naran fell ill, Ali got a chance to play in his place. But he could not leave an impact with the bat. Then captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 18 runs and got out.

Rajasthan's performance was not good after losing the toss and coming in to bat first. The team put up a poor score. Rajasthan could only make 151 runs after losing 9 wickets. This score was the lowest score so far in this tournament. Rajasthan did not get off to a poor start and scored 54 runs for the loss of one wicket in the power play. But then Rajasthan's performance with the bat remained weak.

Before Ali and Varun Chakraborty's spin attack, Rajasthan lost 5 wickets until they scored 82 runs. Together they took 4 wickets by spending 40 runs in 8 overs by bowling with complete connivance. Out of that, Ali took 2 wickets for 23 runs while Chakraborty spent only 17 runs for two wickets. Dhruv Jurel scored the highest individual score for Rajasthan. He scored 33 runs off 28 balls. It included five squares. Jurel, who looked in rhythm with the bat, could not last long.

Harshit got bowled by Rana. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 29 runs off 24 balls. Two fours and a six came out of his bat. He became Ali's victim. Captain Ryan Parag added 25 runs. He hit three sixes before being dismissed by Chakraborty. Towards the end of the innings, Jofra Archer added 16 runs off 7 balls.
