Kiran Thagunna's century won Sudurpaschim by 31 runs against Koshi Pradesh

With the help of young batsman Kiran Thagunna's century, Sudurpaschim Pradesh defeated Koshi Pradesh by 31 runs. Chasing a winning target of 243 runs in the Prime Minister's Cup ODI Men's Cricket Tournament 2081 in Lamhi on Sunday, Koshi Pradesh lost all wickets in 45.1 overs and was reduced to 211 runs. Sudurpaschim won by 31 runs.

After Kiran Thagunna scored 115 runs to give Sudurpaschim a win, Koshi struggled for victory. Chasing the winning target of 243 runs, Shakib Haque scored the highest 62 runs for Koshi Pradesh. He scored 66 runs off 66 balls with 11 fours and was dismissed by Saurya Shrestha.

Captain Ankit Subedi was run out after scoring 38 runs off 26 balls with 6 fours. Sameer Karki added 38 runs in 37 balls with the help of 3 sixes. Ashish Bhattarai faced 90 balls and scored 36 runs with 4 fours.

Dipesh Kandel added 14 runs. Sourya Shrestha from Sudurpaschim took 3 wickets by spending 45 runs with 1 maiden in 9 overs to defeat Koshi. Bhojraj Bhatt spent 28 runs in 1 over and took 2 wickets while Sher Malla, captain Narayan Joshi and Rahul Bhandari took 1 wicket each.

After winning the toss at the Deukhuri International Cricket Stadium in Lamhi, Kiran Thagunna, who batted first, scored 242 runs in his century innings. Kiran, who came to bat at number six for Sudurpaschim, scored 115 runs off 91 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 12 fours. Firdosh Ansari's  Prakash was caught out by Karki at long off the ball.

In the tournament which started on 25th of February, Kiran also became the first player to score a century by making 121 unbeaten against Gandaki Pradesh at Deukhuri International Cricket Stadium. In the

competition, Sudurpaschim added 242 runs losing all wickets in 43.4 overs. Apart from Kiran, other players could not leave an impact with the bat. Tek Bohra scored 16 runs, Arjun Bik scored 15 runs, Sher Mall and captain Narayan Joshi scored 14 runs each.

Saurya Shrestha and Nischal Chhetri scored 10 runs each and got out. For Koshi Pradesh, Gyanendra Shrestha took 4 wickets by giving 48 runs with 1 maiden in 9.4 overs.

Firdosh Ansari took 2 wickets by giving 33 runs with 1 maiden in 8 overs while captain Ankit Subedi also took 2 wickets by giving 30 runs in 5 overs. Dipesh Kandel, Prakash Karki took 1 wicket each. Sudurpaschim Pradesh's Kiran Thagunna, who scored a century in the win against Koshi, was named the player of the match.

In the PM Men's Cricket Tournament held for the first time in Dang, the match continues between Sudurpaschim Pradesh, which is ranked seventh in the points table, and Koshi Pradesh, which is at the bottom.

Sudurpaschim, which has played 8 games so far, is still in seventh place with 6 points, winning 3 and losing 5, while Koshi Province, which has played the same 8 games, is in ninth place with 2 points after winning 1 game and losing 7 consecutive games.

On Monday, the match between Bagmati and Karnali Province and on Tuesday between Nepal Police Club and Karnali Province.
