Army runner Sunsari Rokaye has won the title of 21 km half marathon under Kathmandu Pink Keirathon women's race.
Pushpa Bhandari of APF came second and Nirmala KC of Army came third in the half marathon of the race organized by Laser Port Nepal on Saturday. The winner got Rs 51,000, the second runner-up got Rs 31,000 and the third runner-up got Rs 21,000.
Nisha Sarki of Army won the 10 km race, Asha Rawat of APF got second place and Sumitra Chaudhary of Police got third place. The winner got 31,000, the second got 21,000 and the third got 11,000. Army's Saraswati Bhattarai, Anusia Tandukar and Army's Kusum Tamang won the top three positions in the 5 km category and Jakan Rai, Gayatri Shrestha and Supritha Thapa in the 3 km category. The winners of the 3 and 5 km races will receive a package for two at Doosit Princess Hotel in Lazimpat. All the 12 winners received an insurance package from MetLife.
About 2,000 women from two to 70 years of age participated in the program held at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur.
As International Women's Day falls in the month of March, this event was specially organized for women, according to Ledger Port. The program started with Zumba session and proceeded with walk and run.
Namraj Joshi, president of the organizing organization, said that the main objective of the program is to inspire women who are always busy with household work and daily life to take time for their health.
