The APF Club of the Armed Police Force has won the title of the National Women's Football Tournament. APF defeated the departmental rival Tribhuvan Army Football Club by 4-2 in a tie breaker in the final at Krishnapur Stadium in Bharatpur on Saturday.
In the competitive match, APF and Army scored 1-1 at the scheduled time. The Army took the initial lead. In the 13th minute of the match, Army's Vimala Chaudhary scored a goal. The army team was deprived of the title because it could not handle the last 6 minutes. In the 75th minute, Rashmikumari Ghising scored an attractive header to bring APF back into the game. As no goals were scored in the remaining time, the game was pushed to a tiebreaker.
winner APF lifted the trophy with three lakh rupees. The runner-up Army received a prize of 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees. APF's Preeti Rai was the player of the match. She got 10,000. Army's Chandra Bhandari was the player of the tournament. She received 40 thousand rupees.
APF's Savitri Kisan was chosen as the best goalkeeper, Army's Vimala Bick as the best defender, APF's Renuka Nagarkote as the best midfielder, APF's Rashmikumari Ghising as the top scorer with 8 goals and APF's Jeevesh Pandey as the best coach. They received Rs. 20,000 each. Chitwan District Football Association has organized the tournament in promotion of Bharatpur metropolis.
