Two departmental teams Tribhuvan Army and Nepal Police Club won the Prime Minister's Cup One Day Men's National Cricket Tournament in Rupandehi on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive victory of the army and police.
Army defeated Sudurpaschim Pradesh by 8 wickets in the match at Siddharthnagar cricket ground in Bhairawa on Wednesday. Chasing the target of 118 runs given by Sudurpaschim, Army scored 119 runs by losing 2 wickets in 23 overs of 5 balls. Santosh Karki played an innings of 55 runs in the victory of Army. He hit 10 fours in 63 balls . Tritraj Das contributed 31, Vinod Bhandari 20 runs unbeaten. Far West's Sher Malla and Milan Bohra took one wicket each.
Before that, Sudurpaschim won the toss and batted first. Nischal Chhetri contributed 49 runs not out for Sudurpaschim. Sunil Chand and Narayan Joshi got out with 16/16 runs. Other batters could not score runs in double figures . In bowling, Sahav Alam alone took four wickets for Army. Alam spent 19 runs keeping 2 maidens in 10 overs. He was declared 'Player of the Match'. Sompal Kami took 2 wickets. He spent 16 runs keeping 3 maidens in 6 overs. Similarly, Akash Chand, Naren Saud, Kushal Malla and Basir Ahmed each got one wicket. Army has won the second consecutive win and has climbed to the top of the table with four points . Sudurpaschim finished seventh in the table with 2 points. Sudurpaschim played three matches and won one and lost two.
Police Club wins by a wide margin of 154 runs
In another match on Wednesday, Nepal Police Club has defeated Koshi Pradesh by a wide margin of 154 runs . Chasing the target of 289 runs given by the police for victory, Koshi Pradesh was bowled out for 134 runs in 36 overs. For Koshi, Sujan Thapalia scored 33 unbeaten and Ankit Subedi contributed 21 runs. Apart from Shakib Haque scoring 17 and Firdos Ansari scoring 10 runs, other players did not perform well. Karan KC took three wickets for Pusil to contain Koshi cheaply. Lalit Rajvanshi and Kul Bhurtel took 2 wickets each. Dipendrasinh Airi, Gulsan Jha and Sagar Dhakal got one wicket each.
Before that, after winning the toss and batting first at the extratech oval ground in Tilottama, the police made a high total of 288 runs after losing 8 wickets in the scheduled over. Arjun Saud was dismissed after scoring 38 runs. Kushal Bhurtel scored a half-century for Police. Bhurtel hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in 78 balls and scored 65 runs. Dilip Nath played a half century innings of 61 runs.
Similarly, Rashid Khan scored 38 runs, Dipendrasingh Airi scored 32 runs and Gulsan Jha got out after scoring 21 runs. Bhupal Luintel took the most 3 wickets for Koshi in bowling. Prakash Karki has 2 And Firdos Ansari, Shrawan Kisku and Lipen Kandel each took one wicket each. After this result, Police are second in the table with four points with their second win in a row. Defeated in three consecutive matches, Koshi Pradesh is at the bottom of the table with no points.
Gandaki Pradesh and Lumbini Pradesh will face each other in the competition at Siddharth Cricket Ground on Thursday, while the match between Tribhuvan Army Club and Karnali Pradesh will be played at Extratech Oval Cricket Ground.
