Church Boys United has reached the semi-finals of the 9th edition of Virat Gold Cup held in Biratnagar.

They defeated NRT 2-0 in the last quarterfinal at Biratnagar's Shahid Stadium on Saturday and reached the last four. With this match, the Gold Cup semi-final equation has been completed .

Earlier, Nepal Police, Three Star and the departmental team Tribhuvan Army have reached the semi-finals.

Church Boys will compete with Nepal Police on Monday for entering the final.

Foreign players Richard and Akash Rai scored in the victory of Church Boys . Church Boys took the lead in the 35th minute of the game. Richard smartly netted from Lakpa Pakhrin's pass.

took advantage of NRT's weak defense in a competitive match and trailed 1-0 in the first half. After trailing by one goal in the first half, NRT entered the field aggressively in the second half. NRT's opportunity to score a goal was not converted into a goal and the opportunity to equalize was wasted.

NRT missed a few opportunities in the first half. In the 14th minute of the game, a hard shot by NRT's Rajiv Lopchan from inside the D-box was brilliantly saved by Church Boys' goalkeeper Tekendrasingh Thapa. In the 24th minute, the shot made by NRT's foreign player Arman was blocked by Church Boys' goalkeeper Tekendra. In the 33rd minute, Fode wasted the opportunity to score a beautiful goal in a one-on-one match. His shot went over the bar  . 

In the 40th minute, Church Boys' foreign player, Abayomi Dibox, made a hard shot from inside the box and went out over the post .

NRT missed the finish . This is why the team was forced to withdraw from the first match.

Church Boys have also avenged their loss in the finals of the 25th Budhasubba Gold Cup held in Dharan a month ago by coming to the Virat Gold Cup. NRT won the title by defeating Church Boys United 2-1 in the final of the Budhasubba Gold Cup held on 27 January.
