The Nepali Women's National Cricket Team left for Uganda on Wednesday for the Women's T20I Cricket Series. Secretary Paras Khadka, spokesperson Chumbi Lama and others bade farewell to the team at the headquarters of Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) in Moolpani.
Uganda, Hong Kong and Namibia will participate in the series from March 8 to 16 along with Nepal. After competing in a double round robin, the top two teams will qualify for the finals. Nepal will play their first match against Namibia on March 8.
Nepal is scheduled to play Uganda on March 9 and play against Hong Kong on March 10. In the next round, Nepal will play Namibia on March 12, Uganda on March 13 and Hong Kong on March 14.
The Nepali team is under the captaincy of Indu Burma. In the 14-member team, Sana Praveen and Riya Sharma have got a place in the senior team for the first time. The other players are Rubina Chhetri, Bindu Rawal, Pooja Mahato, Yakkan Khadka, Mamta Chaudhary, Rajmati Airi, Roma Thapa, Rachna Kumari Chaudhary, Kavita Joshi, Ishwari Bishta, Elisa Kumari Yadav (wicketkeeper).
Nepal played a series against Thailand and Netherlands at home last month. Women's T20 World Cup will be held in 2026. There will be a qualifying competition for that this year. Selection of the Asia region will be held in May. This series is going to be played in preparation for that.
