Balan Bihul Saptari Tiger's unbeaten journey has come to a break in the Koshi Premier League cricket tournament. Itahari Adarsh Giants became an obstacle in Saptari's undefeated journey in the first match on Tuesday. Saptari Tigers, who won 100 percent in all the previous four matches, lost by 32 runs to Itahari Adarsh, and missed out on the title race one game before.
Itahari Adarsh, who lost the toss and batted first at Dr. Khalil Azad Cricket Ground in Bhokraha, Sunsari, scored 127 runs losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Arjun Gharti played an excellent innings of 53 runs for Itahari. He faced 38 balls and scored 53 runs by hitting 4 sixes and 2 fours. Deepesh Kandel scored 33 runs by hitting 3 hat-trick sixes and 1 four.
Bhim Sarki scored 14 runs and Asif Sheikh could not open the account. Naren Saud of Saptari took 3 wickets. Rupesh Singh and Vishal Patel took 2 wickets each. Vishal Susling, who spent only 9 runs after bowling four overs, took 1 wicket.
Chasing a winning target of 128 runs in reply, Saptari lost all wickets in 18.4 balls and managed to score only 95 runs. While Rohan BK scored the highest 27 runs for Saptari, Shankar Rana scored 20 runs, Abhishek Karki scored 17 runs and Vishal Patel scored only 14 runs. On the bowling side, Itahari Adarsh's Dipesh Kandel took 4 wickets and Firdos Ansari took 3 wickets. Kandel, who performed as an all-rounder, was declared the player of the match and received 5,000 in cash.
In the second match completed on Tuesday, Purbeli Super King won by 10 wickets against Duhabi Capital. This is the fifth consecutive defeat of Duhabi, who is out of the race for the title of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Duhabi, who batted first, played 18.5 balls and was all out for 112 runs. Apart from Sonu Mandal scoring 34, Vinod Bhandari scoring 32 and Lokesh Bam scoring 17 runs for Duhabi, other batsmen could not perform satisfactorily. Purbeli's Dinesh Adhikari took 4 wickets while Sougat Bhattarai and Imran Sheikh took 2 wickets each.
Purbeli, chasing a winning target of 113 runs in reply, easily completed it in 9.2 balls with the help of Imran Sheikh's unbeaten 79 and Arjun Saud's 29 runs. Imran Shaikh was declared the player of the match.
