28-year-old green gold medalist Kajal Shrestha from Lisankhupakhar Rural Municipality-5 Jethal of the district has become an international judge (referee) in two categories of taekwondo.
She participated in the examination and course at the 60th World Taekwondo Pumsey International Judging Seminar held in Pune, India (January 22 to 26, 2025) along with players from different countries. On Thursday, Shrestha named Kajal in the international judging for Pumsey with excellent results.
Kajal has successfully completed the International Judging Examination and Course in the Kyorogy category last year on January 7, 2024 in the city of Muju, South Korea .
Kyorogy and Poomse, two categories of international judging exams and courses taken by World Taekwondo, are considered difficult and important . Earlier, she also passed the international coach on December 7, 2024. She said that she became an international referee of two categories with success in two categories of exams.
"From being a player, coach to an international referee of two categories, the enthusiasm and responsibility has increased, the respect for taekwondo has deepened," she said .
Kajal, who won gold for the country in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), played the role of judge in the international taekwondo competition held in Brisbane, Australia some time ago .
She acted as a judge in the 20th Wata Open International Taekwondo Tournament in Osaka, Japan and the 7th Heroes International Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. Shrestha, who has competed in the
World Championship, also won the award for the best taekwondo game of the year organized by the National and International Athletes' Association.
