Barcelona beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the Spanish La Liga on Monday and climbed to the top of the points table with the only goal scored by Robert Lewandowski from the penalty.
Barcelona were seven points away from the top of the league until the third season. But in the meantime, after the two Madrid clubs lost their rhythm, Barcelona benefited.
