Church Boys United has entered the semi-finals of the 7th edition of the ongoing Bagmati Gold Cup National Football Tournament-2081 at Makwanpur.
In the first quarter-final match at Shaheed Smriti Stadium located in Bagmati-4 on Monday, the departmental team defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 5-4 goals in a tie breaker and entered the semi-finals of the Church Boys tournament.
The match was pushed to a tiebreaker after a scoreless draw at the scheduled time. Church Boys is a new team in the competition. Foreign players Armaan Widam, Sumit Shrestha, Dipesh Gurung, Sujal Dangol and foreign player Anayomi scored goals in the tiebreaker for Church Boys. Bimal Pandey, Fatteman Ghale, George Prince Karki and Jalespijung Karki scored for Army, while Naresh Khatri's shot was blocked by Church Boys' goalkeeper Tekendrasin Thapa. Goalkeeper Thapa was declared the man of the match of the
game. He received Rs.10,000. Bagmati Rural Municipality President Sarkesh Ghalan, Vice President Fanindra Timalsina and Chief Administrative Officer Om Bahadur Darji presented trophies and cash to him.
