The Armed Police Force (APF) club won the match held on Sunday under the seventh edition of the Bagmati Gold Cup National Football Tournament-2081.
APF defeated Bharatpur Football Club by 3-1 in the tiebreaker in the ongoing tournament at Shahid Smriti Stadium located in Bagmati Rural Municipality-4, Jhurjhure, and confirmed their place in the last eight. Now APF will meet with 'A' Division team Sankata.
After the scheduled 90-minute match ended in a goalless draw, the game was won through a penalty shootout. APF's goalkeeper Angel Shrestha ensured the victory of his team by stopping two shots in the penalty shootout. He was declared the man of the match. He received Rs 10,000 in cash. In the
tiebreaker, shots by Suman Shrestha, Dipesh Dhimal and Mani Lama from APF turned into goals. Bharatpur's Roshan Chhetri and Suresh Kumal's shots were saved by APF goalkeeper Shrestha. The victory of the armed forces was assured after the foreign players of Bharatpur hit the buffer. A match will be played between Tribhuvan Army Club and Church Boys Club on Monday as part of the
competition.
