Bagmati Rural Municipality, located in the eastern area of Makwanpur, has built a football stadium with its own investment. The construction of Shahid Smriti Stadium has been completed in Jhurjhure, Ward 4, which is the center of the municipality. The 7th Bagmati Gold Cup national football tournament is being held from February 3 to 7 at the same stadium.
The municipality started the construction of the stadium by inviting contracts on October 17 last financial year. The construction company has already completed the work of the stadium in the first week of January and handed it over to the municipality.
Earlier, due to the lack of ground with parapit, the competition was being held at Janata Mavi ground located in that rural municipality-8 from the first to the sixth edition. The construction of the project was done by Sanjay Nirman Seva of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City-5. The municipality has allocated a budget of 2 million rupees to build sports infrastructure and conduct competitions in the current year. Among the 8 rural municipalities in Makwanpur, Bagmati is the one that invests the most in sports.
