Senior journalist Shri Vikram Bhandari was honored with this year's NSJF Agraja Sports Journalism Award and Vinayjyoti Sapkota was honored with the Suman Bhomjan Smriti Youth Sports Journalism Award.
Nepal Sports Journalist Forum honored Mero Khel.com Editor Bhandari and Kantipur Television's Sapkota in a program held at Korean Barbecue in Lalitpur on Monday on the occasion of the 29th Foundation Day.
The platform with the slogan of Honoring the Elders and Encouraging the Youth has been giving this award every year on the occasion of the Foundation Day. The forum has been giving this award for the last decade. Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary, National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Bagmati Province Sports Council Member Ravi Maharjan, NSJF Executive President Niranjan Adhikari and General Secretary Prajwal Oli honored senior journalist Bhandari with 25,000 cash, a copper sheet and a dosalla.
Bhandari, who was born in Dadeldhura in Far West, has been doing sports journalism since 2044. Bhandari started his career reporting when more than 90 people died in Dashrath Raganshala due to a storm in 2044.
Similarly, Sports Minister Chaudhary honored the young journalist Sapkota by giving him a laptop and a copper plate. Sapkota has been active in sports journalism for the last 6 years. At the
award program, Bhandari said that his happiness knows no bounds to be honored by the organization he founded three decades ago. He said that he was very happy when the platform reached new heights through international coordination and various activities in the last year. Sapkota, who received the
Youth Journalism Award, said that he has set a goal to achieve this award, which is being given by NSJF, and today, receiving this award has given encouragement to sports journalism.
