After Stere Kallis and Fabe Molkenboer shared a record century partnership, the Netherlands won the triangular Women's Twenty20 cricket series by 10 wickets over Nepal on Wednesday.
With Kailas and Molkenboer's good batting, the Netherlands completed the target of 146 runs by scoring 151 runs in 2 balls at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. This is the Netherlands' highest partnership for any wicket in a Women's Twenty20 International. Kallis and Dennis van Deventer shared a 144-run partnership against Germany in 2019.
Kallis finished with 98 and Molkenboer 48. Kallis, who hit the winning six, made 69 balls and hit a total of 11 fours and 2 sixes. Molkenboer hit 4 fours in 49 balls. This is Nepal's fifth consecutive defeat in the
series. The Netherlands have won three out of five matches. All the three games won by the Netherlands are with Nepal. The Netherlands strengthened their chances of winning the title with this victory. Thailand topped the tri-nation tournament after winning their first four matches.
Netherlands and Thailand will play on Thursday . Nepal will face Thailand in the final match of the tournament on Friday.
Earlier, Nepal won the toss and scored 145 runs after losing 4 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs in the good batting of Pooja Mahato and captain Indu Burma. Pooja scored an unbeaten 62 to become her highest score in Women's Twenty20 Internationals. In February last year, she scored an unbeaten 59 against the Maldives in Malaysia to score her maiden half-century.
Pooja played 51 balls and hit 5 boundaries. Indu scored 39 runs off 37 balls hitting 5 fours. Indu and Pooja shared a partnership of 78 runs in 63 balls for the third wicket, after Mejakan Khadka scored 6 runs in the first over and another opener Mamta Chaudhary was dismissed for 1 run.
Former captain Ruveena Chhetri played 17 balls and scored 20 runs by hitting 3 fours. Kavita Joshi played 6 balls and hit 1 six and remained unbeaten for 7 runs. From the Netherlands, Iris Willing took 2 wickets and Caroline de Lange and Heathers Seegers took 1 wicket each.
