Cricket Excellence Center Kathmandu defeated Butwal in the first match of the Arjuna Trophy National Cricket Tournament held in Dhangadhi today. Kathmandu defeated New Horizon Butwal by six wickets while registering the first victory.
Pursuing the target of one hundred and one runs given by Butwal, Kathmandu won by losing four wickets in 17.4 overs. Shubh Kangshakar from Kathmandu scored 56 runs not out. He has also been declared the player of the match. Tul Bahadur Thapa of Butwal took two wickets.
Earlier, Butwal won the toss and scored 100 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs. Prateek Shrestha of Butwal scored 37 runs. Kathmandu's Raj Shah and Surya Tamang took three wickets each.
With this victory, Kathmandu, which has played two games, is in the third place of Group B with two points. Butwal is in the second position with two points from two games. Eight clubs from all over the country are participating in the competition. According to the organizers, the
winner will get a prize of Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh. This tournament included in the annual calendar of Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) will be conducted till 28th of January.
