The first edition of the Pushparaj Smriti National Table Tennis Tournament will be held from January 24 to 26 at Lalitpur-11, Sankhamool.
At least 150 players will participate in the tournament, which will be organized by the Kholcha Pukhu Sports Committee, Rajeshwar Maharjan, general secretary of the main organizing committee of the Pushparaj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament, told a press conference on Monday. The
games will be conducted in the evening under artificial lights at the Eleven Star Club. The tournament will feature Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Veteran Men's Singles over 40, Men's Singles over 50, and Men's Singles over 60 age groups. Apart from these groups, there will also be an Under-16 age group match for the residents of Lalitpur-11. The winners of
men's and women's singles will receive Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. Players who lose in the semi-finals will get Rs 7,500. The top three winners of the other groups will receive cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 2,500 respectively. The
competition will be conducted with the technical support of Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association. The association will provide the necessary technical manpower and equipment for conducting the competition.
Meanwhile, Ward No. 11 of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality has entered into a sponsorship agreement for the competition. The agreement was signed between the president of Lalitpur-11 Aroj Kumar Khadgi and the co-convenor of the competition Nadim Ratna Shakya. According to the agreement, Lalitpur-11 will provide Rs 8,50,000 for conducting the tournament.
