Ended Nepal's relationship with Monty

Nepal has finalized the contract with coach Monty Desai, who has taken Nepali cricket to a new height. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) issued a press release on Saturday saying that the contract of Indian coach Monty will not be renewed.

Monty, who has previously been a consultant coach of Canada and Afghanistan and a batting coach of West Indies, came to Nepal in February 2013 with a two-year contract, when Nepal was on the verge of losing one-day international recognition.

Under Monty's training, Nepal not only won 11 out of the last 12 games of the World Cup League 2, but also qualified for the World Cup, saving the ODI status. After that, Nepal won the ACC Premier Cup and qualified for the Asia Cup for the first time. Nepal played against Pakistan and India in Asia Cup.

Under Monty's training, Nepal managed to reach the Twenty20 World Cup again after 10 years. Qualifying for the Asia World Cup held at Sokram, Nepal reached the World Cup again after a decade. During Monty's tenure, Nepal had a high performance especially at home.

But recently Nepal's performance has not been consistent. Among the 8 countries participating in the World Cup League 2, which is considered to be the main competition for Nepal, Nepal is in seventh place with 6 points in 12 games. Nepal, which has won only 2 matches, is struggling to maintain its ODI international recognition. Defending champion Nepal was fourth in the Asia Cup qualifiers held in Oman.

Can is grateful for the contribution of Monty, who has joined the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Can's statement said, 'Nepal Cricket Association would like to express its sincere thanks to the excellent performance of the Nepal Men's National Cricket Team and Monty Desai's contribution to the success of the team.'
