Friends Club Dadeldhura has made a winning start in the Arjuna Trophy National Cricket Tournament from Saturday. Dadeldhura defeated DCA Dhangadhi by 8 wickets in the opening match at Phapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi.

Dadeldhura completed the target of 133 runs in 15.5 overs. Player of the match Kushal Bhurtel played an unbeaten innings of 87 runs off 51 balls. Vinod Bhandari scored 42 runs. Dhangadhi's Lalit Rajvanshi and Amit Shrestha took 1/1 wicket. 

Dhangadhi, who lost the toss and was invited to bat, scored 132 runs losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Amit Shrestha scored 32, Niraj Air scored 27, captain Narayan Joshi scored 15 runs. Dadeldhura's Rahul Lunia took 3 wickets, Kushal Bhurtel and Ravi Bisht took 2 each and Hemant Dhami took 1 wicket. 

Sudurpaschim Province Social Development Minister Meghraj Khadka inaugurated the competition. The winner of the competition organized by Go Dreamers will get 10 lakhs in cash and the runner-up will get 5 lakhs in cash. One lakh cash will be awarded to the best player of the tournament. The best batsman, best bowler and budding players will get 50,000 each. According to the organizers, the player of the match of each game will be given 10,000 in cash.

The tournament organized in the memory of coach Arjun Khadka, who contributed significantly to the development of cricket in Dhangadhi, will be conducted till January 28.
