The trip to Nepal ended with a consolation victory

Captain Pooja Mahato's all-round performance ended Nepal's journey to the ICC U-19 Women's Twenty20 World Cup on Friday with a win. Nepal defeated the host Malaysia by 7 wickets.

After Pooja took 4 wickets and scored 23 unbeaten runs, Nepal won easily. Nepal, which is playing the U-19 World Cup for the first time, failed to reach the second stage after losing by 5 wickets to Bangladesh, 1 wicket to Scotland and 83 runs to Australia in the group stage match. 

Pooja bowled brilliantly in the playoffs on Friday at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval. After he took 4 wickets by spending only 9 runs in 3.5 overs, Malaysia lost the toss and were called to bat and were bowled out for 45 runs in 16.5 overs. She has taken her number of wickets to 9 in the U-19 Women's Twenty20 World Cup in Malaysia. She currently tops the list of wicket takers in the tournament.

While supporting Pooja, Rachna Chaudhary took 3 wickets with 5 runs in 3 overs keeping 1 maiden. Riya Sharma spent 5 runs keeping 1 maiden in 4 overs and Simana KC took 1 wicket each with 9 runs in 3 overs. 

Opener Sana Pravin 1 and Savitri Dhami got out for 3 runs, but after Pooja scored 23 runs, Nepal completed 47 runs in 11 overs. Player of the match Pooja hit 4 fours in 32 balls. Jyotsanika Marasini was dismissed for 7 runs. Simana remained unbeaten on 4 runs.
