Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage of the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup
Nepal lost to Australia in the ICC Women's U-19 World Cup cricket tournament. Nepal lost to Australia by 83 runs in their last match of the group stage at the UKM YSD Oval Cricket Ground in Malaysia.
After chasing the winning target of 140 runs given by Australia, Nepal was reduced to 56 runs by losing eight wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Captain Pooja Mahato added 18 runs for Nepal. Apart from Pooja, other Nepalese players could not score runs in double figures. Juliet Morton, Lily Bassingthwaite and Hasrat Gill took two wickets each for Australia.
Before that, Australia, who won the toss and chose to bat first, lost six wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and made a total of 139 runs. Kaimhe Bray scored 45 runs in 34 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes for Australia. Eleanor LaRosa scored 31 runs off 39 balls by hitting three fours. Hasrat Gill scored 30, Chloe Catherine scored 16 not out and Ines Akeon scored eight runs.
Nepal's captain Pooja Mahato took three wickets while Seemana KC took two wickets and Rhea Sharma took one wicket. This is Nepal's third consecutive defeat in the World Cup. Nepal lost the first match against Bangladesh by five wickets and the second match against Scotland by one wicket.
With this victory, Australia has qualified for the Super Six by remaining undefeated in the group stage. Australia had previously defeated Scotland by nine wickets and Bangladesh by two wickets.
