In the first Kho-Kho World Cup tournament, both the women's and men's teams of Nepal are going to return home with historic achievements. Both teams finished as runners-up. This is the first time that Nepal has returned from playing the World Cup final in any team game.

In the final of the tournament held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on Sunday evening, both the teams were reduced to runners-up after losing to host India. Nepal traveled to Delhi aiming for silver medal. Being able to complete that has become a historic achievement for Nepal.

President of Nepal Kho-Kho Association Pradeep Maharjan said, 'We have achieved the goals we had set in the World Cup due to the hard work and effort of the players. This is a historic achievement for us.''Kho-kho is a centuries-old game in India. India has a strong grip on it. It would be foolish to say that we will become world champions by breaking that, so we only set a medal target, we have achieved it,' added President Maharjan.  In the

final, Nepal lost the men's match to India with a score of 54-36. On the women's side, Nepal was defeated by the Indian team under the captaincy of Priyanka with a score of 78-40. Both Nepali teams won the toss and decided to defend first. India started attacking and scored good points.

The women's final was a repeat of the final of the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal. In 2019, India won gold by defeating Nepal by a score of 17-5. In the first edition of the Kho-Kho World Cup, 20 men's and 19 women's nations participated.
