Jumla's Sunmaya won the ultra marathon title in Hong Kong

Jumla's Sunmaya Budha has won the title of 100 km ultra marathon being held in Hong Kong. Sunmaya, who was born in Per village of Patarasi rural municipality-2, completed the 100 km marathon in 11 hours, 11 minutes and 47 seconds.

She beat Slovakia's Veronika Leng by 14 minutes and 25 seconds. Veronika finished second after crossing the prescribed distance of 11 hours, 25 minutes and 22 seconds. Vietnam's Ha Thi Hau finished third in 12 hours, 9 minutes and 37 seconds covering the distance of 100 kilometers. 

Karnali Sports Club President Saroj Shahi said that Sunmaya's performance in a challenging race like 100 kilometers has become an inspiration for everyone. Sunmaya's victory was not limited to winning the competition. She succeeded in breaking all the records of the course and taking her name to a new height,' he said. 

Sunmaya balanced herself right from the start of the race. Strategically advancing, she ran with high energy and determination to the end. Hong Kong's geography, fatigue and uncertain weather could not stop it. Sunmaya's endurance, patience and mental preparation is the only way to achieve this victory," Rokaya, the world champion runner, said.

Jumla's ups and downs taught Sunmaya to compete in ultra marathons. Shahi, president of Karnali Sports Club, said that Sunmaya's success is a story of her deep dedication to sports. "The challenges faced during training are the result of the discipline adopted in diet and lifestyle and the constant journey towards the goal," he said.

Sunmaya, an ultra runner, said that the time, effort, commitment and constant struggle she had put in was the result. My success in the Hong Kong Marathon is certainly not personal. It is the success of the country as a whole,' said Sunmaya, 'I will not stop yet .

Sunmaya's success, who was born in a remote village and made her name known on the international stage, is an inspiration to Nepali women, said coach Bishwakritimani runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya. He said that the determination and success shown by Sunmaya has presented a model that women can contribute to the society in the field of sports.
