SAFF Championship, the biggest competition of South Asian football, will be held on the basis of 'home or away' from now on. This decision was taken at the meeting of the South Asian Football Federation (SAF) on Wednesday.

The meeting also decided to organize the next competition from June 15 to July 25. According to the federation, not all matches of the tournament will be held in the same country. There will not be games like this in all countries. Accordingly, there will be a competition in more than one country. In the event that the competition cannot be held in the same format in the next edition, it can be held at the same place. The federation has also decided to hold the competition every two years from now on.

The tournament started in 1993 and initially two editions were organized as SAARC Gold Cup. Since 1997, the tournament has been organized under the name of SAFF Championship.
