With a thrilling win, Australia edge closer to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Australia won a thrilling 184-run victory on Monday after taking 7 wickets from India in a dramatic manner in the final session of the fourth Test. With this victory, they have taken a 2-1 lead in the 5-Test series.

With only 12.5 overs left in the day's play, India were bowled out for 155 runs. Now the final and fifth Test will start in Sydney on Friday.

If Australia are to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy, they will have to draw this Test.

"This Test has been a very unique game," Australian captain Pat Cummins said. He was also the player of the match. He took 6 wickets in the entire Test and contributed 90 runs. Both teams played a sensational match in front of a record crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Cummins added, 'Of all the Tests I have played, this match was special, because there was no shortage of spectators for the entire five days and the cricket itself was of a high standard.'

India had an unnatural target of 340 runs for victory. The only good option before India was to end the Test in a draw. Its adaptation was shown by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. They took India to 112 runs by the tea session with the loss of three wickets. However, Rishabh was dismissed trying to hit part-time spinner Travis Head for a six. With this, the Indian team suffered a dramatic collapse.

India lost their last 7 wickets for 34 runs. Meanwhile, the team played just 20.3 overs. Opener Jaiswal was the highest run-getter of the innings. He scored 84 runs. Cummins took 3 wickets for 28 runs. Nathan Lyon caught Mohammad Siraj LBW as India's last wicket. Along with this, the entire Australian team was happy to be seen. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc claimed after the match that there was no doubt about his victory.

He said, 'There was a turning point in the last day's game, when the pitch was not helping the bowler. But we looked for an answer to that too. Why don't we panic if we win? If we have full faith in the facts, we are capable of winning. Rishabh was dismissed after scoring 30 runs. With this, his partnership of 88 runs with Jaiswal was broken. This increased the happiness and confidence among the Australian bowlers. Soon after the

, India also lost Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy who scored a century in the first innings. Jaiswal himself fell prey to Cummins. His valiant two-ball innings was controversial. A cut-behind appeal against him for hooking was initially denied. However, the TV umpire overturned that decision. The ball made no sound as it traveled, but changed direction.

Then Scott Boland dismissed Akash Deep. He took 3 wickets for 39 runs overall. Jasprit Bumrah was out for a wicket for the second consecutive innings. Washington Sundar was determined and faced 45 balls. Scored 5 runs and remained not out. Cummins shined decisively with the bat for the first time in his career. Later, he said, 'You never know what kind of performance will come from my bat. But this time luck was on my side.

Cummins took the wicket of KL Rahul along with rival skipper Rohit Sharma, while Starc dismissed Virat Kohli in the last ball before lunch. Along with this, India lost 3 wickets and reached a bad position of 33 runs. "In the last two sessions of the day, we had to do well with the bat and try to win. However, the performance from the Australian team was truly outstanding. We could not continue the struggle till the end,'' said Rohit, who was going through a difficult rhythm.

He believed that the partnership of 61 runs in the last wicket between Leon Boland in the second innings of Australia weakened the chances of Indian victory. With the help of that performance, Australia made a score of 234 runs in their second innings. Bumrah took 5 wickets for 57 runs in that innings. Overall he took 9 wickets. On the fourth day, Australia was in a position of 91 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. However, the team managed to get immunity from there and reach the victory.
