Purnima Shrestha, who has climbed Mount Everest three times in two weeks, has been included in CNN's list of brave athletes. Purnima, who is also a photojournalist, is on the list of CNN's 'The Extreme Athletes Who Pushed Limits in 2024'.
She is the first woman climber in the world to climb Mount Everest three times in one season. She had climbed Mount Everest consecutively on May 12, 19 and 25. CNN's list of courageous sportsmen has been included in the , and she said that she felt proud through social media.
'This year, 2024 has become a historic year in my life. This year I managed to become the first and only woman in the world to successfully climb Mount Everest three times in one climbing season,' she said.
Shrestha is also the first Nepali woman to climb Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain. She climbed Dhaulagiri with Pasang Lahmu Sherpa Akita in 2021.
