With the help of Nitishkumar Reddy's first century, India responded strongly on the third day of the fourth Test against Australia. At the end of the rain-affected day's play, India scored 358 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

Rising all-rounder Reddy has scored 150 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and is also not out. The last session of the day ended early after being affected by rain. Now India will be behind by 116 runs at the start of the fourth day.

Among India's other not-out batsmen, Mohammad Siraj is on two runs. Australia scored 447 runs in the first innings. Another all-rounder, Washington Sundar, shared 127 runs for the eighth wicket for India, which had a poor start.

Sundar scored 50 runs. Reddy faced 176 runs and hit 10 fours and one six. Among the Australian bowlers, Pat Cummins and Scott Boland took three wickets each.
