Three candidates for NOC chairmanship

Three candidates have been nominated for the post of president of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC). Current president Jeevanram Shrestha, current general secretary Nilendraraj Shrestha and handball's Tej Bahadur Gurung are among those who submitted candidatures for the leadership until Monday midnight.

The election of NOC will be held on Saturday. There will be seven vice-chairmen in the committee and nine people have applied for it. Among them are the current Vice President and Tennis Jyoti Rana, Swimming Ashokaratna Bajracharya, Table Tennis Chaturananda Rajabaidya, Taekwondo Prakash Shamsher Rana, Hockey Anil Sharma, Kabardi Tulsha Thapa, Judo Deepakharsh Bajracharya, Shooting Pushpadas Shrestha and Cycling Gopalsundar Lal Kashpati.

Rajeev Shrestha of rafting and canoeing and Tasi Ghale of golf were the only candidates for general secretary and they were elected unopposed. Similarly, Badminton's Ramji Bahadur Shrestha as Deputy Secretary General and Archery's Ramesh Sivakoti, Basketball's Bhimsingh Gurung and Weightlifting's Ramkrishna Shrestha have also been elected unopposed.  Geeta Rana of gymnastics, Manish Joshi of football, Lakpa Sherpa of Usuka, Jitendra Bahadur Chand of volleyball and Ram Awale of boxing have also been elected as

members.
