Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli congratulated the players and managers of Janakpur Bolts, the winners of the first edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
In a program held today at the Prime Minister's Residence, Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli congratulated the players, officials and managers of the Nepal Cricket Association, who played a role in raising the level of Nepali cricket with excellent performance.
Janakpur Bolts won the title by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals in the match held at Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur on Saturday. Prime Minister Oli wished them to achieve greater success in the future and wished them to maintain self-strength, skills and enthusiasm to show that Nepalis can be world-famous batters.
'This is a victory for all Nepalis, a victory for Nepali cricket, your extraordinary ability has been seen through the competition. The runner-up Sudurpaschim Royals also performed well, the players of Janakpur Bolts who won in the face of a tough challenge deserve congratulations,' Prime Minister Oli said, 'I wish them all the best for achieving greater success in the coming days.'
Mentioning that he made the first decision regarding the upgrading of the cricket ground at Kirtipur after he became the Prime Minister, he said that tenders have already been invited for this . He said that his and the government's efforts will continue for the development of Nepal's sports sector.
On that occasion, the Nepal Cricket Association and sports managers complained that the process of bringing foreign players to Nepal and foreign investment or support in the sports sector has become more complicated. In response, Prime Minister Oli promised that such a situation should not happen and that the government would facilitate the necessary measures.
The president of the association, Chatur Bahadur Chand, thanked the government for giving priority to the cricket game and asked them to end the cumbersome process related to the labor approval of good players from abroad. Ashif Sheikh, the captain of Janakpur Bolts, responded that he was happy to meet Prime Minister Oli and receive his congratulations and honour.
