The 11th edition of the Falgunanda Gold Cup, which is being played in the memory of Nepal's 16th national architect and social reformer Falgunanda Lingden, is starting from Saturday. The organizer Fidim Sporting Club said that the preparations for the competition have been completed. Athletes from various places including Kathmandu have come to Fidim to participate in the competition.
In order to conduct the competition, the organizer has constructed a temporary parafit of 4,000 capacity using bamboo in the playground of Fidim Secondary School in Fidim Bazar, while the concrete parafit on the field has a capacity of 2,000 to 6,000 spectators. The general secretary of organizer Phidim Sporting Club, Pasang Tamang, said that teams including Machindra Football Club and Karsang Club of India arrived in Fidim on Thursday for the
competition.
Tamang said that in the opening match of the tournament on January 6th, there will be a competition between the organizers Fidim Sporting Club and Karsang Football Club India. The second match is scheduled to be played between Machindra Football Club Kathmandu and Jhapa-11 Jhapa on December 7, Tribhuvan Army Club Kathmandu on December 8 and the winning team of the opening match. Similarly, Newstar Sunsari will compete with the winner of the game on January 9 and January 7.
It is mentioned in the match schedule released by the organizers that in the third quarter-final on the 10th of January, Church Boys United Kathmandu and Biratnagar Football Club and in the last quarter-final on the 11th will compete between NRT Kathmandu and Sahales Football Club Siraha .
Similarly, after completing the first semi-final on 12th and the second semi-final on 13th, the final match will be completed on 15th . In Falgunand Gold Cup, which has the highest prize money in the district, this year the winner will receive 10 lakh 555 rupees and the runner-up will get 5 lakh 555 rupees .
Similarly, the man of the match of each game will be awarded at the rate of 10,000. The organizers have also informed that the highest scorer will be awarded 15,000 in cash and the best in various categories will be awarded 10,000.
The Falgunanda Gold Cup, which started in 2065 in memory of Nepal's 16th Vibhuti Falgunanda Lingden, was suspended until 2075. After the completion of the tenth edition, it was postponed due to the collapse of the playground wall and the corona epidemic. The competition is going to be conducted again from this year.
