Real Madrid's forward Vinicius Junior was awarded FIFA's best player of the year award during the event held in Doha on Tuesday. On the women's side, Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati won this award.

award, the Brazilian player said, 'Thank you very much to everyone. I grew up in a very poor family. There was a lot of violence in my society. I want to dedicate this award to everyone who came forward from such a situation.'
Argentina's Lionel Messi won the FIFA award in the previous two editions. Vinicius scored 24 goals in 39 appearances for Real in all competitions last season. He also played the role of assistant of 11 goals.
In that sequence, Vinicius also won the Spanish La Liga and the European Champions League for Real. On the women's side, 26-year-old Bonmati received this award for the second year in a row.
