Janakpur Bolts became the first team to reach the playoffs of Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. Janakpur defeated Kathmandu Gurkhaz by 5 wickets in the second match at the Trivi Cricket Ground Kirtipur on Thursday.

By winning 5 out of 6 games, Janakpur secured a place in the playoffs. If they defeat Chitwan Rhinos in the last match, they will confirm Janakpur's Qualifiers 1. Janakpur completed the target of 102 runs by scoring 104 runs in 15.5 overs. Harsh Thakar hit 1 four and a six off 25 balls and Mohammad Mohsin hit 3 fours off 7 balls and remained unbeaten on 13 runs.

Lahiru Milantha hit 2 fours off 20 balls for 16, Asif Sheikh 2, captain Anil Shah 11 and Shubh Kansakar 5 runs. Jimmy Nisham scored the highest 27 runs from Janakpur. He hit 1 four and 3 sixes. When Janakpur came close to victory, he was dismissed LBW by Jehrard Ersmus. From Gurkhaz, Karan KC took 2 wickets for 10 runs in 3 overs and Erasmus, Dipesh Kandel and Shahav Alam took 1 wicket each.

Gurkhaz, who won the toss and batted earlier, was bowled out for 101 runs after playing 19.3 overs. Lalit Rajvanshi and Sher Malla took 3 wickets each. Lalit dismissed Stephen Eskinazi and Sumit Maharjan in one over and spent 8 runs keeping 2 maidens in 4 overs. Sher, who took 2 wickets in the lower order, spent 11 runs in 3.3 overs. Mohsin spent 20 runs in 4 overs and Kishore Mahato and Araniko Yadav took 1 wicket each.

Erasmus scored the highest 20 runs from Gurkhaz. He played 22 balls and hit 2 fours. Karan scored 19 runs from 13 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, Stefan Eskinazi scored 17 runs from 19 balls with 2 fours. Michael Levitt 8, Bhim Sarki 4, Rashid Khan 7, Dan Douthwaite 1, Pratik Shrestha were dismissed for 6 runs. Shahav remained unbeaten on 8 runs.

This is Gurkhaz's third loss in 5 matches. The team has won 2 matches. If they win their last 2 games, there is a possibility of Gurkhaz reaching the playoffs.
