Nepal defeated Afghanistan by one wicket in the final match of the U-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After winning the toss at Dubai's Sharjah Cricket Ground, Afghanistan batted first and scored 123 runs after losing all wickets in 35.4 overs.
Nepal completed the target of 124 runs by losing nine wickets in 41.3 overs. For Nepal, Naren Saud scored the most 26 runs, captain Hemant Dhami scored 22 runs, Arjun Kumal scored 21 runs, Abhishek Tiwari scored 13 runs, Akash Tripathi and Roshan Vishwakarma scored nine/9 runs each and Santosh Yadav scored seven runs. Nepal got 12 extra runs.
On the bowling side, Afghanistan's AM Ghazanfar and Khatir Stanikzai took three each and Abdul Aziz and Mahbub Khan took one wicket each. Earlier, Faisal Khan scored 52 runs while scoring 123 runs for Afghanistan. He hit four fours and two sixes in 67 balls. Khatir Khan scored 15 runs off 26 balls. Allah Ghazanfar scored 11 runs and Nasir Khan scored 10 runs.
For Nepal, Yunishvikram Singh Thakuri and Santosh Yadav took three wickets and Hemant Dhami and Abhishek Tiwari took two wickets each. Earlier, Nepal lost to Sri Lanka by 55 runs in the first match and Bangladesh by five wickets in the second match. Afghanistan had earlier lost to Bangladesh in the first match by 45 runs and in the second match to Sri Lanka by 131 runs. Both teams are out of the Asia Cup.
