England won the first Test against New Zealand easily by eight wickets on Sunday.
On the fourth day of the Test in Christchurch, England got a target of 104 runs for victory, but they achieved it by losing two wickets.
In that, Jack Bethel scored 50 runs and remained not out. Another knock out batter Joey Root contributed 23 runs. Earlier, New Zealand were bowled out for 254 in their second innings.
Darrel Mitchell's 84 runs was the highest individual score. For England, Braden Kars took six wickets for 42 runs. Overall, he took 10 wickets in the Test and became the 'Player of the Match'.
Before New Zealand scored 348 runs in their first innings, England scored 499 runs in reply. With this, England was leading 1-0 in the three-Test series. Now the second Test will start on Friday in Wellington.
