The 8th Prime Minister's Cup NVA Men's and Women's Volleyball League organized by the Nepal Volleyball Association will be held from May 19. Jitendra Bahadur Chand, President of the Volleyball Association, said at a press conference held on Sunday that 14 teams, 8 for men and 6 for women, will participate in the tournament.
The team has been selected based on the 8th RBB NVA men's and women's volleyball tournament held in Kathmandu in March. Top 8 men's and top 6 women's teams will participate in the league.
Tiptop Help Nepal Sports Club, Nepal APF Club, Nepal Army, Nepal Police Club, Koshi Pradesh, Gandaki Pradesh, Sudurpaschim Pradesh and Budhanilkanth Volleyball Club for men and Police, APF, New Diamond, Army, Everest Volleyball Club, Butwal and for women Karnali province will play.
is the defending champion in Men's and Police in Women's. Participating men/women teams will play against each other in round robin league. The top 2 teams will compete again for the title. The top three teams in both men and women will receive cash prizes of 8 lakhs, 4 lakhs and 2 lakhs respectively.
The best player will be awarded 50,000 cash, libro, server, blocker, lifter, spiker and coach will be awarded with 20,000 cash each, according to the Volleyball Association. 1 lakh 20 thousand rupees will be provided to teams outside the valley. In case of valley team, each player will get 250 rupees each day for lunch expenses. The total prize money of the competition is 31 lakh 40 thousand rupees.
It is estimated by the organizers that it will cost about 75 lakh rupees to conduct the eight-day competition at the covered hall of the National Sports Council. The National Sports Council will provide 35 lakh rupees. The organizers expect the rest of the money to come from sponsorship, broadcasting, ticketing, well-wishers, etc.
