The Nepali Congress dissident faction will celebrate the 44th memorial day of founding leader and first elected Prime Minister Jananayak BP Koirala separately on 6th Shrawan.
An organizing committee has been formed under the coordination of former party vice president and former deputy prime minister Prakash Man Singh to organize the day's ceremony at Pragya Bhawan Kamaladi in Kathmandu, said Min Bishwakarma, coordinator of the group's publicity committee. He also said that various committees including the publicity committee and management committee will be formed as needed.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at the 15th General Convention Preparation Liaison Office under the coordination of Nepali Congress's outgoing acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka in the presence of outgoing office bearers and members of the Central Working Committee elected from the 14th General Convention.
The group organized a press conference on Sunday and stated that it is exercising patience and continuously trying to unite the party despite the latest situation arising within the party.
'Even after the decision of the Election Commission and the Supreme Court's verdict, we are taking initiatives for party unity by adhering to the rule of law and judicial independence. It is not the case that the party recognized by the Commission and the court has formally met with the concerned party and made concrete proposals, as there have been public rumors about meetings, talks and dialogue,' the statement issued by leader Bishwakarma states.
The group claims that the market rumors that the supporters of the regular general convention have made unity uncomfortable by putting forward new and unacceptable proposals every day on the issue of party unity are baseless, false and misleading.
The group alleges that the regular general convention party has been continuously making efforts for party unity, adopting maximum flexibility, and maintaining long patience after dialogue, but even after 7 months after the dispute and 4 months after the court's verdict, the leadership that came from the special general convention has not taken or wanted to take any meaningful and fruitful initiative.
The regular general convention supporters have reached the conclusion that they will organize a national gathering in Kathmandu within the month of Shrawan to set a new course of action through a national debate and discussion with the aim of maintaining strong unity within the party and protecting the freedom and civil rights of the Nepali people. Leader Bishwakarma informed that the date, time and place of the gathering will be made public during the BP Memorial Day program to be held on 6th Shrawan.
