The leader of the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, Bhishma Raj Angdembe, has said that his party will not hesitate to praise the positive work of the government.

Taking time out from Monday's meeting of the House of Representatives, he said that he would take the government's efforts made in the past 100 days positively. MP Angdembe said, 'The government has been active on issues such as good governance, corruption control, administrative reform, service delivery and some structural reforms. The Congress will not hesitate to praise the positive work wherever it has been done. Because when the government is successful, the Nepali people are the ones who ultimately succeed. Nepal is a country.'

He commented that in a democracy, the evaluation of the government is based on the experience of the citizens, and the evaluation of the government is based on its respect for the constitution, its responsibility towards the parliament and the credibility of public institutions. He said, 'Questioning in a democracy is not opposition, it is responsibility. We should move forward by creating a common understanding on issues of national importance.' We support the government in strengthening the democratic system and in making appropriate amendments to the constitution. If the government extends its hand for national consensus, the Congress is always ready to play a positive role. We want the government to be successful, because when the government is successful, it is the Nepali people who succeed. The lives of the Nepali people will change.'

Leader Angdemba urged for a sustainable solution to the problem of squatters. He also suggested that dialogue should be held between all parties in parliament, parties outside parliament, various parties, constitutional law experts, etc. in the process of constitution-making. He said that the process of amending the constitution should be taken forward in an all-round way.

He stressed that the government should come up with an effective plan to control elephants in a painful situation where 25 people died in a single elephant attack and four members of the same family lost their lives. 'In such a situation, the responsibility cannot be fulfilled by distributing relief alone. "A long-term policy to protect citizens' lives and agriculture from wild animals, an effective rescue mechanism, and a system for rapid intervention should be implemented immediately," he demanded.
