The National Independent Party (NISP) has expressed serious concern over the news published/broadcast regarding the membership figures mentioned in the organizational report presented at the first national general convention.

The party's General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya issued a statement on Wednesday, clarifying that there is no truth in the news that '35,257 people under the age of 18 are party members'.

The statement said, 'It is neither the policy, nor the practice, nor any institutional objective of the NISP to make children under the age of 18 party members or involve them in political activities.'

The NISP has stated that the initial details of those who had 'applied' in the digital membership system but had not received 'final approval' were presented as raw data at the general convention.

Since there is an open system for anyone to apply for membership online, the initial investigation revealed that there was a typographical error, wrong choice of calendar system or other technical reasons while filling out the application form.
