The National Debt Collection Bill, 2083 has been passed by the House of Representatives. The motion to ‘pass the bill’ moved by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle in the House’s Sunday meeting was passed unanimously.
Responding to questions raised in the clause-wise discussion on the bill, Finance Minister Wagle said that the loan will be spent on productive projects. ‘Foreign loans are earmarked for infrastructure projects, those projects work to streamline economic activities, shorten distances and reduce costs,’ he said, ‘However, the situation of the two international airports built with loans has shown a different scenario, we must monitor it.’
Earlier in the meeting, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal had presented the amendments received on the bill for decision. The amendment proposal moved by MPs Parashuram Tamang and Rekha Kumari Yadav was rejected by the meeting, while MP Hari Prasad Bhusal withdrew his amendment. The House of Representatives meeting will be held in 15 minutes today.
