Ruling National Independent Party (NISP) President Ravi Lamichhane arrived in Delhi on Monday afternoon. Lamichhane is on a visit to India at the invitation of the national president of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India, Nitin Naveen.
NISP President Lamichhane landed in Delhi with his wife Nikita Poudel and two party leaders. He was welcomed by BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Arun Singh and Foreign Department Chief Vijay Chauthaiwale at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
Acting Nepali Ambassador to India Surendra Thapa also arrived at the airport to welcome Lamichhane.
The visit is said to have been organized to strengthen party relations between NISP and BJP. This is party President Lamichhane's first official visit to India two months after forming a government with a nearly two-thirds majority in the general elections held on 21 Falgun. During his visit to India, he will meet top leaders including BJP President Naveen and high-ranking government officials.
Although the BJP's foreign department released a statement on Sunday stating that he will meet top party leaders, it did not specify who he will meet. Lamichhane, who reached the Tajman Singh Hotel directly from the airport, is scheduled to meet with his main colleagues on Tuesday. The visiting team includes party joint general secretary Bipin Acharya, secretariat members Deepak Bohara and Pradeep Acharya.
