The government's policy and program for the fiscal year 2083/84 has been passed by the House of Representatives with a majority vote amid boycott and obstruction by opposition parties.
The policy and program presented by President Ram Chandra Poudel on Monday on behalf of the government was passed on Thursday. The policy and program was presented in Parliament on Wednesday for discussion. The House was repeatedly disrupted after opposition parties said they would not discuss the policy and program without the presence of the Prime Minister. However, on Thursday, opposition party lawmakers participated in the discussion.
The meeting was disrupted again, saying that the Prime Minister should answer the questions raised on the policy and program. As the obstruction continued, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal adjourned the meeting for 15 minutes. After that, despite the discussion, no agreement was reached, Speaker Aryal gave time to Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle to respond on behalf of the Prime Minister amidst the obstruction and boycott of the opposition parties.
Then, UML, NCP, Labor Culture and RPP boycotted the meeting, while Congress stood up and continued its protest. 35 amendment proposals were submitted on the policy and program. All the proposals were rejected by a majority.
